Approximately 70% of oral 5-HTP is converted to serotonin, compared with around 3% of L-tryptophan.

5-HTP capsules can help support normal sleep patterns and a healthy nervous system. Our 5-HTP capsules use pure grade 5-HTP extracted from the natural plant source Griffonia simplicifolia.

Each 5-HTP capsule typically provides 50mg of 5-HTP and each bottle contains 60 capsules. Our 5-HTP capsules are suitable for vegetarians and vegans.

5-HTP is short for 5-Hydroxytryptophan, and it is the immediate amino acid precursor to serotonin, meaning that 5-HTP is converted in the body into serotonin, an important neurotransmitter (chemical messenger) involved in regulating numerous bodily functions, in particular brain and nerve function. Serotonin may also be converted in the body to melatonin, an important neurotransmitter that regulates the sleep-wake cycle.

5-HTP is derived from the amino acid tryptophan. Tryptophan is an essential amino acid found in food, principally in meat and dairy products, but only about 3% of oral tryptophan is converted into serotonin. 70% of oral 5-HTP, on the other hand, is converted into serotonin, but is not found in food. Instead, supplemental 5-HTP is naturally sourced from the seeds of the plant Griffonia simplicifolia.

Each capsule typically contains
5-HTP (5-Hydroxytryptophan) 50mg
Encapsulated with: Silicon dioxide, Microcrystalline cellulose, Magnesium stearate, Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose

Dosage:
1-2 capsules daily, or as directed. Up to 600mg per day may be taken, although loose stools may result from higher doses. For children, the dosage of 5-HTP should be reduced from the adult dose to 20mg for every 10kg of body weigh
